Text Box:   On Tuesday December 12, 2006, SEIU Local 620 members of the City of Guadalupe Chapter attended their City Council meeting to ask for fairness in their contract negotiations as well as to ask for equity pay for all of the City’s members.  The City Council chambers were packed with purple-clad Local 620 members who had never “marched” on the City Council before.      As a result of their efforts, the next day, the SEIU negotiating team reached a tentative agreement with the City on 12/13/06 on a successor collective agreement.  A summary of those negotiated changes can be found on page 5.  The membership ratified the contract on 12/15/06 and those changes will go into effect on 1/1/07.     Pay equity was one of the top issues for the Guadalupe membership with some employees estimated to be out of market up to 98%!!  The City of Guadalupe bargaining team achieved a huge victory by negotiating up to 30% pay increases over the term of the contract!
